thirdparty.repair covers the repair industry: repair practice, parts and supply, manufacturers, policy and law, and refurbishment and resale. It reports what a claim says, what the evidence shows, and where the two agree or disagree - including where a manufacturer's stated reasoning holds up.

It is written and edited by one person, working independently. There is no newsroom, no editorial board and no company behind the byline.

That person is not named here, and it is worth saying why rather than leaving it to be guessed at. This site reports on companies large enough to make life difficult for an individual who writes about them, and it takes no payment from anyone, so there is no organisation standing behind the work. Publishing without a name keeps the focus on whether a claim checks out rather than on who is making it, and it removes any question of the writer's own circumstances colouring how a finding is read. What replaces the name is the evidence: every post lists its sources, quotes manufacturers from their own published words, and separates what was found from what is thought about it.

Nothing here is sold. The site carries no advertising and takes no payment, free products or other consideration for coverage. No manufacturer, retailer or repair business pays to be featured, reviewed favourably or left out.

Every post lists the sources it relies on, so a claim can be checked rather than taken on trust. The method used to test claims and handle sources is set out in full on the Method page.

Mistakes happen. When one is found, it is corrected and the correction is dated and described on the Corrections page. Nothing is quietly edited away.
